The full yard chart, with a converter
Every yardage from a quarter yard to ten, converted for all three bag sizes, plus a converter for any figure in between.
Every yardage covered
The chart runs from 0.25 yards up to 10 yards, so your project size is on it whatever you are pouring.
All three bag sizes
80, 60 and 40 lb counts side by side, because stores stock different sizes and prices vary.
Worked from real yields
Counts come from the true yield of each bag, 27 cubic feet per yard divided by the yield, never rough guesses.

These counts come from the standard yield of each bag size: 0.6 cubic feet for 80 lb, 0.45 for 60 lb and 0.30 for 40 lb, against the 27 cubic feet in one yard. Use the converter to check any amount in between.

How the chart is calculated
Take the cubic feet you need and divide by the yield of one bag. For 1.5 yards: 1.5 x 27 = 40.5 cubic feet. In 80 lb bags, 40.5 divided by 0.6 = 67.5, which rounds up to 68 bags. Counts always round up, because stores do not sell part bags.
Frequently asked questions
How many 60 lb bags in a yard of concrete?
60 bags. A 60 lb bag yields 0.45 cubic feet, and 27 divided by 0.45 is exactly 60.
How many bags for half a yard?
Half a yard is 13.5 cubic feet: 23 bags of 80 lb mix, 30 bags of 60 lb mix or 45 bags of 40 lb mix.
Should the chart include waste?
The chart shows exact amounts with no waste, so you can see the true conversion. For a real order, add about 10 percent more bags than the chart shows for your yardage.
Do all brands yield the same per bag?
For the standard sizes, yes: the major brands print 0.6 cubic feet on an 80 lb bag and 0.45 on a 60 lb bag. Specialty fast setting or high strength mixes can differ, so check the bag in front of you.
